William P. Burleigh Jr passed away on August 9th, 2024 at 95. Following his service in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict Bill completed his education, married Laura Hodge, and began his career in education in Pittsford, NY. He worked as a math teacher at Sutherland High School, vice-principal at Barker Road Junior High, and principal at Jefferson Road and Park Road elementary schools. Bill took a position as interim headmaster at The Harley School in 1989 where he became the first director of the Horizons Student Enrichment Program. Horizons provides summer school experiences for inner-city students in grades K-8. Bill was a devoted husband and father, a motorcycle enthusiast, and an avid member of his local community. He is predeceased by his wife Laura. He has two sons, Bill of Laramie, WY, and Stephen of Vollsjoe, Sweden, and five grandchildren.
