William Raymond (Bill) Jeffryes, 92, of Laramie, Wyoming died December 7, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne. He was born May 14, 1923 in Trinidad, Colorado to Eli Raymond and Ella Marie (Lage) Jeffryes. In 1934 the family moved to Laramie where Bill worked for the BOOMERANG as a paper boy. At Laramie High School he played violin with the UW Orchestra. He participated in football, track and basketball, lettering in all three. He was proud to say that he warmed the LHS bench while Kenny Sailors developed his legendary jump shot.
Following graduation from LHS in 1941, he attended the University of Wyoming until 1942 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the 112th Radio Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater for twenty months. Upon returning to Laramie in 1946 he married Bobbelu White of Meeker, Colorado. Completing their family were son Paul Douglas, born in 1946 and daughter Cynthia Jane, born in 1951.
Bill joined his father in business and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Accounting in 1948. In August, 1959 he received his CPA license and became a partner with his father in Jeffreys and Jeffreys, CP As, playing an active role in the family’s accounting business before retiring at the age of 85. Bill was an active member in numerous organizations including the American Legion, VFW, Wyoming Society of CP As, Sigma Chi Fraternity for which he served as treasurer on the Board of Trustees, Elks, Jacoby Golf Club, Cowboy Joe Club, Wyoming Seniors Golf Association (Two years as President), President of Kiwanis Club (1954) and participant in the organization of LHS Class of 1941 reunions.
Among Bill’s passions were attending UW football and basketball games since 1934. He and Bobbelu were loyal supporters of UW athletics and numerous school events of Paul and Jane. Other passions included shooting hoops in the backyard with Paul, Lew Roney, Tommy Dolan, and neighborhood friends. billiards, fly fishing, crossword puzzles, ping pong, weight lifting and golf which he played until he was 89. He greatly enjoyed traveling with his family to many reunions of the 112 the Signal Corp.
Preceding him in death were his wife Bobble, Phyllis, Horner and Debbie Lynn Perryman; Leroy and Mabel White, Christine Perryman, Marshall and Winnie Jeffryes and Denise Gilmore.
He is survived by his son Paul of San Jose, Caliornia and daughter Jane (Bob) Campbell of Laramie, grandsons Jared and Ty Wade, Laramie, granddaughters Sacheen Jeffryes and Karice Gilmore, San Jose, and great grandson Dion Rollison, San Jose, cousin Mary Jean (Lage) Stoner, Surprise, AZ, Diane (Dave) Kitt, Cave Creek, AZ, Elaine (Dave) Sinclair, Maidens, VA, nephews Bruce (Sharon) Perryman, Cheyenne, Dennis (Cherie) Perryman, Garden City, KS and Jim Perryman of West Jordan, UT.
At his request no funeral service will be held.
However, the family wishes to thank Bill’s loyal private aides, those from Summit Horne Health Care, Hospice of Laramie, the entire Hospice staff at the V A Hospital in Cheyenne, and certainly LM.H. physicians, nurses and staff. Special thanks to Edith Myers, Naomi Nottage, Brandon Seymour and John Campbell.
