"Aunty Verna" was the best God-Mother a girl could have. She was my God-Mother, the person who would take care of me if my parents died--at least this is what I thought when I was a child. It gave me a lot of comfort knowing she was my God-Mother. I still have (and use) gifts she made me for me over the years. I loved her very much. I was so blessed to have such a loving Aunt. My confirmation name was "Veronica"--as close to getting a Saint's name as we could to the name "Verna." I know she will be missed by many. God bless you, Aunty Verna and may you rest in peace. Love, your niece, Sharon

  • Julie (Younger) Baartman

I remember living across the alley from my Aunt Verna, she had a great sense of humor and was a great gardener. I loved the special summer days of making homemade ice cream. Verna and Virgil had a cabin on Gull River and the Younger family did too and we spent lots of times together with all the cousins. Fish fry’s, homemade biscuits and donuts ! My sympathies to Kathy, Bob, Gary and Diane. Hold onto those special memories.
