Thomas F. Neuman

Thomas F. Neuman 7/4/1949 – 5/11/2019

Thomas F. Neuman passed away on the 11th of May with love of his life by his side.  Tom was born on July 4, 1949 to H. T. Neuman and Evelyn Mangus Neuman.   He is survived by his wife, Katherine E. Neuman, son James Riley Neuman and wife Nichole, grandchildren Avary and Aiden, son John Theodore and wife Marci and their fur babies, Jitzu and Asira.  Also, Tom’s sister Irene Mikkelsen, brother Craig Neuman and wife Charlene, brother Jeff Neuman and wife Brenda, Sister Judy Dalton, cousins, Fred Neuman and wife Becky, Donnie Neuman, Jeanine Dean and husband Chuck, Robbie Neuman, Paul Weppner and wife Darcus, and Bonnie Weppner.   Preceding Tom in death were brothers Mike Neuman, and Dick Neuman, and cousin Billy Ted Neuman, Patty Weppner, and Rusty Nichols.  Can you imagine all those teenagers growing up in the same town?  What a time they had!  Also passed are his father H.T. Ted Neuman, his mother Evelyn Mangus Neuman, and stepmother Joyce Neuman.

According to Tom he was born in the sleeper cab of a 1949 Kenworth Semi Truck.  Tom worked with his father and brothers, Craig, Mike, Dick and Jeff, in the family business Neuman Transit Co for many years, before opening his own business, Tom Neuman Trucking, and later Tom Neuman Truck & RV Repair.

Tom and Katherine have been married 37 amazing years, making their home in Rawlins, WY.  Tom’s sons, Riley and John meant the world to him.  He would have done and did everything for them.  He was so proud of the wonderful men they have become, smiling the biggest smile when they each got married!  He loved his grandchildren, Avary and Aiden, they were the light of his life.  Tom was a gentleman raised with old school values, morals and a passionate sense of right and wrong.  He never forgot a friend, and if you got a call in the evening it was because he cherished your friendship and refused to let friendships die.  He loved to dance and was a historian with a sharp wit.  And he knew everything there was to know about trucks… the “Master”

Tom was born and raised in Rawlins, graduating from Rawlins High School.  He and his best friend Doug Ogburn had grand adventures in High School.  Tom played football in High School earning the nick name “Tommy Touchdown”. He graduated from the University of Wyoming as a business major, using his degree to further his career in the trucking industry, telling Katherine that he always knew what he wanted to do in life.  While attending school at the University of Wyoming Tom was “adopted” by the Kanaly family in Laramie, which lasted a lifetime.  He was a true entrepreneur with the spirit and gut to fight his way through the tough, competitive trucking business, to survive in the business world through the best and worst of times.

Among Tom’s favorite memories are of the years that he spent on the Flying Diamond in Steamboat with his friends John and Billy. The stories he could tell!  Those stories will be missed.

Tom’s Passion was always football and he was a lifetime member of the Cowboy Joe Club, and the UW Alumni Association.  He rarely missed a home game, relishing every minute in Laramie.  Tom was a lifetime member of the Wyoming Trucking Association and President of the Trucking Association from 1993 – 1995.  He also served on the Board of the Rawlins National Bank.   He was a Mason and an Elk for many years.

We will miss you Tom.

To the Family, I want to express how sorry to read about your loss. Losing a family member can be very painful. When I lost my father, I found comfort in what the Bible teaches. I fully believe, as the Bible teaches, that God will restore paradisaic conditions to our earth and that he yearns to bring back to life on earth those who have died—including our family members. (Job 14:14, 15; John 5:28, 29) We can look forward to the day when we will hold and embrace them again. Every time we hear the word “paradise,” that hope warms our hearts! In the meantime, we can take comfort in the fact that they are in God’s memory. I hope the same thoughts may bring your family comfort in dealing with your loss.
