Thelda Hendricks

On Friday, November 15, 2024 in Laramie, Wyoming our matriarch and the one who has been the rock of our family, gained her wings. She didn’t go alone, her dear sister Norma gained her wings just a day before.

Thelda had many titles that she cherished throughout her life, she was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and an auntie

She was born in Rexburg, Idaho to John and Thelma Egbert Hendricks on February 5, 1943, she joined her six older siblings Jack, Robert, Don, Norma, Zella, and Betty.

She lived in Grace and Thomas, Idaho throughout her younger years then she moved to Blackfoot, Idaho with her parents where she lived until 2010 when she moved to Laramie, Wyoming to be with her son and his family. She spent a couple of years in Cheyenne, Wyoming before moving back to Laramie prior to her passing. While in Cheyenne she made several wonderful friends especially at Davis Hospice.

She lived most of her life in Blackfoot, Idaho. She worked many years at the Artic Circle on Broadway where she made many life long friendships. One of the most important, special life long friendships that she aquired from working there was with a regular customer named , Jacob, whom she loved dearly. She also worked at Gorman’s in the bakery prior to retirement.

On, July 31, 1969 her life took a wonderful turn that changed her life forever with the birth of her son, Todd.

On August 14, 1993 she started another chapter in her life that she cherished with all she was, she became a grandmother for the first time.

She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many callings. Some of her favorite callings were ward/relief society chorister and bulletin board specialist.

She loved to do ceramics, embroidery, and most of all arranging flowers, which she was amazing at.

One of the things I know so many will miss about her is the “birthday calls”. She always called and sang Happy Birthday to you if she knew your birthday. Oh and don’t forget about her amazing delicious Divinty that she would make.

She is survived by her son Todd Hendricks, daughter- in-law Diona Hendricks, her 4 grandchildren Taybor (Sharon) Hendricks, Taran (Logan) Hendricks, Kayden (Shelby) Hendricks, and SayDree (Blake) Busenbark, and 9 great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Alexandra, John, Kimberlynn, Nash, Kenedi, Landon, Baylee, Jameson and one more due in May 2025. And several “adopted” grand and great-grandchildren whom she loved as if they were hers, especially our Christopher Jones.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2pm at Green Hill Cemetery in Laramie, Wyoming.

Thelda was my babysitter, a title that doesn't adequately describe the love I always felt from her. I don't remember when that relationship started but it went until shortly before Todd was born. I was 8 by then so she was only watching me after school but I missed going to her house and cuddling with her on the couch while she read to me or we watched TV. I know she will be fondly remembered, not only by her family but by everyone her sweet spirit touched.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Miss Thelda for several years. I absolutely love her and will miss her greatly! She was such a light in my day when she would call me and would always let me know how special I was to her and how much she loved me. God gained an amazing angel and I am so happy that she is dancing in heaven with no pain! Rest in peace my dear friend!
