Shawn Makinen

Shawn Marie Makinen passed away peacefully July 30, 2024, in Laramie WY surrounded by her daughters Shawntele, Misty, and Tiffany and numerous loved ones. Shawn was born on August 6, 1956, in Rawlins WY to Tempest Irene Rudd and Charles Augustus Makinen. She was the 4th child and second daughter out of 5 boys and 5 girls. Shawn married and later divorced Clinton Langwell, but not before they had their daughter Shawntele. She then had her daughter Misty in Rawlins. Shawn later moved to Sheridan Wyoming where she pursued some college, while in Sheridan her youngest daughter Tiffany was born with her second husband Troy Morey whom she later divorced. She then moved back to Rawlins where she worked for a period of time at the Best Western, Flying J, JB’s, and then spent 20 years working for JH Kaspar Oil Company at K’s Mini Store, where she made numerous friends and acquaintances while working at the store. Shawn worked for K’s up until the stores were sold. Because of declining health, Shawn moved to Laramie WY in 2019 and lived with her daughters Misty and Shawntele and some of her grandchildren. Shawn spent a lot of her time going to breakfast and hanging out with some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shawn is survived by her daughter Shawntele (Eugene) Ogle of Laramie WY, Misty Langwell of Laramie WY, and Tiffany (Ricky) Jacobs of Rawlins WY. Grandchildren Karmen Ogle of Colorado, Jordan (Samantha) Garcia of Fort Benton MT, Kaylee Ogle of Laramie WY, Layne (Zach) Johnson of Laramie WY, Kobe Garcia of Moscow ID, Hanna Ogle of Laramie WY, Mariah Harold of Laramie WY, Vivian Ogle of Laramie WY, Jayda Jacobs of Rawlins WY, Anthony Jacobs of Rawlins WY and RudyMae Jacobs of Rawlins WY. Great Grandchildren Payton and Briar Garcia of Fort Benton MT, Emberlee, Oaklee, and Paislee Ogle of Laramie WY, and Karsyn, Jacksyn, and Graesyn Johnson of Laramie WY. Her siblings Mathew Makinen of La Grange WY. Clay (Debbie) Makinen of Rawlins WY, Debbie Parrish of Rawlins WY, Toni (Chris) Nickelson of Rawlins WY, Melvin Makinen of Torrington WY, and Jackie (Adan) Gonzalez of Montrose CO. She is also survived by sister-in-law Kathy Makinen, Aunts Deb Dahlke, Linda Craig, and Uncle Ray Brown along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Shawn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Irene Young and Charles Makinen, her stepfather Bill Young, her siblings Tim Makinen, Charlene “Lovey” Christensen, and Rudy Makinen, her sister-in-law Anita Makinen and brother-in-law Larry Parrish, and her nephews Jack Makinen and Chad Nickelson. She was also proceeded in death by her lifelong friend Joseph Stratton. Shawn is going to be missed by many people. She will be cremated and buried with her mother. A celebration of life will be planned for early September. Memorial Donations may be taken to Rawlins National Bank and made to her daughter Misty Langwell’s account in memory of Shawn or given to her daughter Shawntele to be placed in an account.
