Sally Dieterich

Sally Dieterich, born in Warren, Ohio, October 9, 1932, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2021.

Sally was the daughter of Gordon and Monta DeMotte Carr. After her father’s death in 1944, mother and daughter moved to Long Beach, California. After graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949, Sally entered the University of California–Berkeley (1950-1955), where she majored in Child Development and was a member of Alpha Pi Delta Sorority.

At the beginning of her senior year, she married Ronald Parker. She taught second grade in Long Beach, followed by three years teaching kindergarten in Orinda, California. In 1959 the couple moved to Laramie where Sally had a long and happy career teaching kindergarten successively at Washington, Slade, and Nellie Iles schools. Teaching was a calling; her students were her children. Sally was a member of the professional society of women educators, Delta Kappa Gamma. Sally and her first husband were divorced in 1971, and in 1973 she married Herb Dieterich. Sally retired in 1992.

Sally enjoyed watercolor painting, volunteer work at the public library, old movies, listening to classical music and vintage jazz, and the company of her many friends and cats. She was a lifelong reader and a generous philanthropist to many nonprofits devoted to the support of animals and to political causes she believed in. She was known for her generous spirit, her quiet wit, her charming turns-of-phrase, and her love of animals. Sally was quick to express her gratitude and appreciation of others with written notes of thanks.

She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband of 45 years, Herbert R. Dieterich, and her stepson, John A. “Jack” Dieterich. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Ann Christensen Williams of Denver and Jean Christensen of Arlington, Virginia, and her granddaughter, Lila Maria “Masha” Harmon of Arlington.

A celebration of Sally’s life will take place at a later date. Contributions to honor her memory may be made to the Laramie Animal Welfare Society and the Albany County Public Library.

Could I make an appointment to see ? typical dosage of amoxicillin for strep throat Inspector General Michael Horowitz criticized the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in the report for "a serious lack of oversight", citing 35 "churning" investigations that were not reviewed by the agency's Undercover Review Committee for prior approval.

I am so sorry for the loss of Sally. She was such a wonderful teacher. I was a student of hers at Slade elementary and my time in her class made many fond memories. I was happy to introduce her to my daughters while we were visiting Laramie. I feel very blessed to have known her.

Sally not only loved animals, she put that love into action. When the Laramie Animal Shelter Foundation (now the Laramie Animal Welfare Society) was formed in 1998, Sally was one of the first citizens to step up in support of this new non-profit organization. Her support allowed us to get the program off the ground and to begin assisting animals and people in our community. She and Herb were deeply involved in the remodeling of the Laramie Animal Shelter, creating improved housing for animals in need. Sally adopted several cats from the LAS. Were there ever any cats as fortunate as they? Always humble and wanting no accolades, that's our friend Sally. But our community needs to know that the LASF/LAWS are here today, helping so many animals and people, predominantly because of Sally and Herb Dieterich. Thank You, Sally, for all you have done for animals and our community. You saved hundreds, if not thousands of lives. You're my hero. God Bless You.

What a kind caring person. She was always thinking of the other people in the Cardiac Therapy Group in Invinson Memeorial Hospital. She always tried to have a birthday or get well card for someone in the therapy sessions. I had many great conversations with Sally and Herb. What great people. What depth of knowledge they had in their respective educational career fields. Wyoming has lost two great educators. I am sorry for the families loss. I wish you all God’s love and kindness.

Mrs. Dietrich was one of my favorite teachers. I can still her voice calling us to the circle after painting!! My friend Mandi and I would walk to her house during the summer and sit with her on the porch swing and drink lemonade and talk about what we wanted to be when we grew up. My sister's first car was Mrs. Dietrich's orange Honda. Loved that car!! I am so thankful for teachers like her. She truly was a beacon!! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
