Roy “Skeeter” Means

Roy “Skeeter” Means was born on December 21, 1973 to John Means and Olive McClain. He unexpectedly passed away last week on December 4, 2020.  He was 46 years old.

In 1991 Skeeter suffered a tragic rodeo accident while in Nevada.  He finished high school at Laramie High in 1993.

Skeeter had his CDL and drove truck for several years.  His last 6 ½ years were with Cowboy Truss Inc.

Skeeter was an avid outdoorsman.  He was a hard-core “Pokes” fan and was a gun collector. He loved spending time at the shooting range. There was nothing more important to him than spending time with family and friends.  He was loved by so many in his community and he will be truly missed.

There will not be a service at this time but there will be a celebration of his life during the summer of 2021.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends including his best friend, Iris Klein.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Olive McClain; sisters, Emma, Michelle, and Susie; his brother, Jon; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

One of his last posts to his friends professed what a mighty, mighty God we serve and how He is so worthy to be praised.  Skeeter loved his heavenly Father and we know he is with Him now.

A Celebration of Skeeter’s life will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday July 31, 2021 at the Rock River Park in Rock River, Wyoming.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss ok skeeter. He reached out to me when my mother (iris klein) died. He was so sweet and i faintly remember him growing up. My mom and him grew apart but any time she spoke of him it was always highly and nothing but laughs.

Skeeter was a very compassionate human being. He was always concerned and cared about his family ties. He was a half-brother to my children, Michele, Suzanne, and Jon, and always tried to keep in touch. For the past few years he and I have been "friends" on FaceBook, sharing our conservative political beliefs, our love of President Trump and what he has done for this country, and our Heavenly Father who loves us all. He will be greatly missed. My prayers to his mother and siblings who will all miss him.

So much love and many prayers of comfort to his family. Roy was a wonderful friend who made the extra efforts to stay in contact through time and distance.

I met Roy in my freshman year at Tonopah High School. He was a sweet friend to a new kid in school and I cherished his friendship from then up until now. His eyes would light up when he spoke about bull riding, he was young, brave and fearless. He had a bad rodeo accident our senior year and fought his way to recover, he sure was crazy for rodeo his whole life. I saw Roy last at our 20 year high school reunion and had just a good of a time as we did as kids out at a bonfire out in the cold desert. There was not a birthday, holiday or just a random day that he did not reach out to me. I am sad that my friend is not here any longer but I am happy that since his faith in God is strong and I will get to see him again. My condolences to Emma , his mom and all his family, there are no words that are sufficient at times like this. Please do let me know when there are services, I would like to pay my respects to Roy. Go ride high on that mountain cowboy. Love you man.

Roy and I became friends in Round Mountain. He and Jonny Powell were always making me laugh. I wanted to send the family my deepest condolences. My heart goes out to you and I’m praying for you to find peace and comfort. May the memories you have bring you peace and remind you of him and your love for each other.

Roy was a friend to me that throughout the years would always send a happy birthday , Happy Thanksgiving or simply hello and congrats. Im so glad I kept in contact with him , he always seemed happy to shoot he breeze , whether we talked family, rodeo , old days , just what ever or nothing at all. I'll certainly miss our chats , and more so the messages he would send. The world was a better place if you had a friendship with Roy , he cared about his family and friends. He was genuine and Ill miss him, but also find happiness knowing Roy was a believer in Jesus Christ, that I'll one day get to sit and talk with him in Gods promise. My condolences to Emma , his mom and all his family.

Oh Man where to start! So many memories with him and his family. The small town of Round Mountain in 1987 is where our journey began. Our parents worked at the mine together. My first dance was going to his 8th grade graduation. 3 wheeler chases, sagebrush hide and seek, to sleep overs with his sister and him bugging us all night! To the call when he had his accident at the rodeo. To his being a proud Uncle. You will be greatly missed Prayers and so many tight hugs and love to the family
