Richard Lively was born in Vernal, Utah on June 3rd, 1965 to Evan John “Butch” Lively Sr and Gloria Lively (néé Harrison). The middle of three children, Richard and his siblings John and Michelle grew up quite close, through hardships and joys aplenty. As Richard grew he traveled a bit, and worked any job that would have him, to help support his family. During his travels he ended up in Casper, Wyoming, where he met his first wife Gena, getting married and shortly having their daughter Melissa Ann, unfortunately divorcing not long after. He moved from there to Laramie, where through friends he met Shawnn Lively (néé Paustian), his wife of 32 years, and with her had his boys: Richard B and Scott Nicolas. During their early dating Richard and Shawnn went to WyoTech, working various jobs including cook and waitress at Woods Landing, forklift operators at the local lumber mill at Fox Park, and many others. They married in 1990, in a small ceremony in Woods Landing. In early 1994 they moved to Cheyenne where the boys were born, where Richard put his degrees to use working at the Toyota shop, until he got an opportunity to work at Weld County garage, where he worked from 1998 to 2001-2002 when he got disabled on the line. This prompted a move for the family back to Laramie, where Richard worked as an instructor at WyoTech for three years, retiring from there to open his own small business, The Knife Guy Sharpening.
Richard passed on Christmas Eve, December 24th 2023, 11 months and 11 days after his wife, surrounded by his children, Melissa, Richard B and Scott, Richard B’s wife Atussa and his partner Wendy Gleave. He is survived by his three children; Melissa, Richard B, and Scott, his three grandchildren; Patience, Nikolas, and Dyllan, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, his mother; Gloria Phillips (formerly Lively), his Siblings; John Lively and Michelle Stone.
As Richard did not want a funeral, his celebration of life will be held the weekend before his birthday, on June 1st, location to be determined, all posts will be updated with more as we get closer.

My memories of Rich are back at Wyotech and him driving for the shuttle for Laramie GM. He always had a smile and was so proud of his family. I lost a good friend. Boys please know I am here for you if you need anything.
I extend my sincerest condolences to Richard’s family and friends. I am saddened to read of his passing within such a short time after my friend’s passing. His wife, Shawnn, was a dear friend for many years. June Allen
