Peggy Lynn Falgien, 65, of Laramie, WY died on November 12, 2015. Born in Laramie on February 19th, 1950 to Joe Falgien (whose family came from Italy) and Lois (Prahl) Falgien (whose family settled in Laramie before Wyoming became a state), Peggy lived her entire life in Laramie. As a youngster, Peggy attended Stanton School, Laramie Junior High, and Laramie Senior High. During her school aged years, Peggy was an active participant in Camp Fire and Laramie High School’s finest marching bands under the capable direction of Jay Schaefer. Following high school graduation in 1968, Peggy worked part-time at the Albany County Treasurer’s Office while pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Wyoming, which she obtained in 1974. Upon graduation, Peggy immediately began her long-standing career at The University of Wyoming (“UW”). She later transferred to the accounting department of the UW Bookstore in 1977, was promoted to Assistant Manager in 1982, and subsequently earned her position and title as Manager of the UW Bookstore in 1986. During her 33-year-career as a UW Administrator, Peggy served as President of the National Association of College Stores from 2004-2005, the professional trade association representing the entire United States’ collegiate retailing industry. Peggy adored her career at UW and was a mentor to many. Upon retiring on the day of the tornado, May 22, 2008, she had more time to travel, play golf, play bunco, and cheer for the Cowboys, Cowgirls, and the Denver Broncos. Peggy was a co-owner of Bud’s Bar, which had been in the family for 55 years. She was proud of her family business and was the face of the annual Bud’s Bar golf tournament. She especially excelled at delegating the grunt work to her brothers, family, and friends, organizing the tournament, and designing the t-shirts, hats, and other Bud’s golf tournament insignia. Peggy was a gracious host for special events, such as holiday dinners, birthday celebrations, and family gatherings for members of her large extended family. She will be especially remembered for her Christmas Eve parties and her homemade spaghetti sauce. She absolutely loved spending time with her friends and family and gets the award for “best aunt ever” according to her niece, Brianne, for her endless support, time, love, mentorship, and generosity she provided to Brianne. Peggy was preceded in death by her father Joe, mother Lois, brother Donnie Joe (gone too soon), and her dear friend Lynda Syler. She is survived by her brother David, sister-in-law Carol, niece Brianne Falgien, Brianne’s husband Corey Fisher, and her many cousins who have been more like brothers and sisters to her. Peggy had many friends she cherished. To everyone, “Life is short, fun is necessary.” Let’s remember Peggy “For the Good Times!” Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 20 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home, 2133 Rainbow Ave, Laramie, WY 82070. Inurnment and burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, followed by a reception at Elks Lodge at 103 S 2nd St Laramie, WY 82070.
