Merle Sapp, 89, of Laramie, passed away October 4, 2021 in Greeley, Colorado at the North Colorado Medical Center.
Merle was born April 5, 1932 in Hamilton, Ohio to John H. and Clyde Lena Sapp. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Violet, Robert, Velma, Ruth, Ralph, John, Mary Jane, Kenneth, Roy. He is survived by his sisters Martha Brown and Lois Jean Smith of Hamilton, Ohio.
Merle served as a medic in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. After training at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, he went on to serve during the Korean Conflict in North Africa.
Following his service, he married Barbara L. Skeesuck in Fort Worth, Texas on April 6, 1956.
Merle and Barbara had 5 children, Linda (Greg) Simpson of Laramie, Wyoming, Vicki Moore of Westminster, Colorado, Larry (Donna) Sapp of Rocklin, California, Sandy (Greg) Stuckert of Fairplay, Colorado, and Lori Suppes of Brighton, Colorado.
Merle was an ordained minister, serving for 20 years, with the Church of the Nazarene. Following his retirement from the ministry, he was employed in Hospital Materials Management in Wyoming and Colorado. He continued to work various jobs until he was 83 years old. Merle and Barbara permanently relocated to Laramie, Wyoming in March 2020.
Merle loved his grandchildren Becky Simpson, GW (Shasta) Simpson, Sarah McGhee, Erika (Eric) Mizell, Daniel McGhee, Jess (Tommy) Bradley, Andrew (Savannah) Lagunas, Jeremy Lagunas, Bri (Travis) Doolittle, Ryan Suppes.
He adored his great-grandchildren Bella, Mai, Chase, Braxton, Travis, Coop, Ella, Z, Jordan, Amelia, Elli, Aubs, Kins and Evie.
Merle will be remembered for his love of God, family, country, furbabies, milkshakes and burgers.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie, Wyoming with Military Honors by the United States Air Force and Laramie Veterans Honor Guard.
