We are saddened to announce the passing of LaNell Kay Curry on February 13, 2025.  LaNell was born on September 19, 1970 in Cheyenne, WY.  She was adopted that year by Carrol and Shirley Koster of Riverton, WY who raised her with a brother Troy in a loving, supportive family.

LaNell attended Cody High School and graduated in 1989.  She married Aaron Curry that year and they had two daughters, Jennifer and Brittany. Their family moved to Riverton in 1994.  In 1999 she agreed to be reconnected with her birth father, Joseph Kelly of Oakes, ND and she was introduced to a full sister, four half-siblings, and other extended family who were excited to find her. In 2001 she and her family moved to Laramie and planted their roots. LaNell led a fulfilling life being a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed taking her daughters on bike rides and eating treats with them. She would take her basset hound Pheona fishing up in the Snowy Range Mountains and North Crow Reservoir. LaNell took a lot of pride in her children’s daily lives, attending their concerts and school activities. She enjoyed celebrating her birthday and Christmas most of all, starting celebrations as early as October!

Since 2011 LaNell had been living at the Laramie Care Center where she enjoyed visits with her parents, husband, children, and later in 2015 her granddaughter Sophia.  LaNell enjoyed spending time with her family.  She had a caring, curious and humorous nature, her infectious laughter and smile affected everyone who knew her. LaNell never let her youthful spirit escape.  Unfortunately, her health issues became overwhelming, and she passed too early at the age of 54.  She will be deeply missed.  Her family thanks and appreciates the wonderful people who cared for her.

LaNell is preceded in death by her mother Shirley Koster, birth father Joseph Kelly (wife Kathy of Wilmington, DE), many grandparents, aunts and uncles on both sides.  

She is survived by her father Carrol (Cody), husband Aaron (Laramie), brother Troy (wife Ashli & nieces Madison, Megan and Hunter of Cody), daughters Jennifer (Tami Abbott of Laramie), Brittany (Casper), grand daughters Sophia Gonzalez Curry and Kinsley Kay Juel, sister Carmen Larson (Lewistown, MT), half-brother Logan Kelly (Wilmington, DE), half-sisters Phelan Kelly (Wilmington, DE), Megan Rodgers (Phoenixville, PA) and Erin Stenger (Blacksburg, VA), and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins!

A celebration of LaNell’s life will take place in Cody, WY on June 7th, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Cody Alliance Church. Please contact Jen or Kathy if you plan to attend.
