Jose “Joe” L. Mondragon, 93 of Laramie, Wyoming passed away October 15th, 2023. He was born August 30th, 1930 to Pablo and Amada Mondragon in Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico.
On June 10th, 1950 Joe married Eloisa Vigil in Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico. Later that same year, they moved to Walden, Colorado so that Jose could work for the Union Pacific Railroad until he retired; he was also a proud member of The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees union.
After Joe retired, his hobbies included spending time with his best friend & dog sugar, wood working, furniture making, fishing, hunting, working in his flower garden and growing vegetables; he also loved to bowl and won trophies. Joe was a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic church as well as the Elks Club.
Joe is survived by his daughters Irene (Ken Ellison) Calia of Monroe, Michigan and Patricia (Ron) Drinkwine from Walden, Colorado; his grandchildren ShyAnn (Kris) Jones and Beau Meredith; and his great grandchildren Lauren Rausch and Jordon Meredith.
He is preceded in death by his wife Eloisa, parents Pablo and Amada, his daughter Lucia Mondragon and sister, Aurora Montoya
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church in Laramie, Wyoming. Inurnment will follow at the Jackson County Cemetery in Walden, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Laramie.
Joe was just a good friend to my dad. May he rest in peace. Sorry for you loss. He did the best woodworking. I have a coat rack my dad had him make for me.
