James “Jim” Richard Fossett, 75, of Laramie, died at his home on Saturday, January 9, 2016 surrounded by family. Jim was born to Richard and Opha (nee Reeves) Fossett on July 26, 1940 in Fort Collins, Colorado. After graduating from high school, he joined the National Guard and served for six years. Jim was a plant manager for Chemetron Corporation for 23 years.
He married Barbara Wasmuth on July 3, 1960 in Laramie, Wyoming. They were blessed with two children, James and Larie. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Fossett, sisters, Maxine Oder and Sharon Porter.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son, James Jay Fossett and daughter Larie (Dennis) Lester, all of Laramie. His is also survived by his five grandchildren, James and Walker Fossett of Cheyenne, Dustin and Kodie Lester of Laramie and Andrea (Josh) Valma of Laramie and two great grandchildren, Isaiah and Isaac Valma of Laramie.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home with The Reverend Rhett Ivey officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with military rites by the Wyoming National Guard and The Laramie Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Thursday until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Laramie.
