
James D. Westhoff, 83, of Laramie WY, died April 4th, 2025.
He was born November 2, 1941 in Glasgow MO, the son of Clem and Fern. He graduated from Glasgow High School at age 16, going on directly to join the Marine Corp. He married Mary Corbin, Ada OK, on September 1, 1962. He began working as a Research Chemist for Robert S. Kerr Water Research Center in Ada, while an undergraduate student at East Central State College. They started their family in 1969, while he balanced being a husband, dad, and student. In 1973 he became the first recipient of a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. After graduating he worked for USAC Waterways Experiment Station, Vicksburg MS, where he built and ran the first Environmental Laboratories for U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. In 1980 he began working for DOE, Laramie WY, pursuing alternate sources of oil production until his retirement in 1994. He always enjoyed precision shooting, reloading, and hunting/fishing with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Mary; son Jason (Shannon); daughter Jamie (Scot Stretch), grandchildren: Isaac and Ella Stretch; Brenna Westhoff (Duncan Marshall), great-grandchildren: Brooke and Bode Marshall; former sister-in-law, Rita; brother, Gary (Suzanne), sister, Jan (Randy Trokey), numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry; son, Courtney.
