Jackie A. Bath

Jackie A. (Greaser) Bath, lifetime resident of Albany County, died February 28, 2025 at Hospice of Laramie following a short battle with cancer.

Jackie was born July 29, 1941 in Laramie to Orval and Thelma (Sanderson) Garson.  She was the oldest of three children.  They grew up living at Strong Creek Ranch near Sybille Canyon.  Early in life she and her siblings attended school in their one-room schoolhouse on the ranch.  Eventually she went to school in town and graduated from Laramie High in 1959 and later earned a degree in Education from the University of Wyoming.

In 1964, Jackie married Donald Bath.  Later that year they were blessed with twin daughters, Toni and Tami.  They were married for 51 years, until Don’s passing in 2015.

In 1977, she and Don started ranching on Don’s family-owned ranch known as The Hart Ranch.  As partners on the ranch, Don managed the overall working operations and Jackie maintained the books.  As Don and his siblings passed on, younger generations became partners. She was the go-to person in the extended family for any questions involving the ranch.  In addition to her involvement with the Hart Ranch, Jackie also continued her involvement with Strong Creek and Sanderson Ranches that she and her siblings inherited from their parents.

Jackie took great pride in her rural heritage.  She was a fourth-generation granddaughter of Henry and Catherine Bath, pioneer settlers of the Laramie area.  She was involved in the preservation efforts for the Bath Stone Ranch, which was originally built in 1875 and is now listed in the National Register as a historical landmark.  As a member of the Bath Stone Ranch Board of Directors, Jackie most recently was helping to plan the 150-year anniversary for the Stone Ranch, scheduled for later this summer.

Her greatest joy was living on the ranch.  She especially loved spending time with family and friends and teaching her grandkids and other children about the country way of life… rural living, raising cattle, and getting their hands dirty.  She also enjoyed playing cards and working jigsaw puzzles.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Thelma Garson; husband, Don; daughter, Toni; and sister, Margareta Yates.

She is survived by her daughter, Tami Browning and husband Gary; grandchildren, Chad and Emily Browning.  She is also survived by a special daughter by heart, Carole Buelter; husband Jerry and daughter Chutney; a brother, Ray Garson and his wife, Mary Beth.  Her extended family includes cousins and numerous nephews and nieces.

Services will be held on Monday, March 10th, at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Inurnment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.  Reception will follow at the Bath home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bath Stone Ranch Restoration Fund (c/o Karen Fanning, 530 Beaufort St. No. 115, Laramie WY 82072) or to Hospice of Laramie.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jackie and my sister Caleen Schmidt, were best friends in high school and I got to know her well during those times. We were still in contact at Christmas time over the years. I will always remember her with fond memories.

Tami and family, I always enjoyed answering the phone and hearing “Annie, I bet you are sorry you gave me your phone number.” We would both laugh and then she would ask me whatever question she had called about. I have great memories of Jackie and Donnie at the lake. May she rest in peace.
