Herbert E. Morgan, 93, of Laramie, died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 29, 1924 in Moorefield, Arkansas to Joe and Nancy (Jinnings) Morgan.
Herbert married Laura B. Cunningham on August 15, 1943 in Mountain Home, Arkansas and they were married for 64 years. After getting married Herbert joined the United States Navy and served in World War II. After returning from the war Herbert and Laura moved to Laramie in 1946. While living in Laramie Herbert worked for Spiegelberg Contracting Company playing a big part in many commercial buildings being built in Laramie, such as, the Albany County Library and some of the Schools. Herbert also had his own general contracting business building many homes around the Laramie area.Herbert had been a member of the Moose and the Elk’s Lodge over the years.
He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his son; and his brother.
Herbert is survived by his children, Carol McConnell and Larry Morgan; his eight grandchildren; his 17 great grandchildren; and his eight great-great grandchildren; and his brother, Hale Morgan.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home with the Reverend Rhett Ivey, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Navy and the Laramie Veterans Honor Guard.
Our family wishes to express how sorry we are for the Morgan family's loss. As children and continuing to young adults, my brother and I spent many hours in the Morgan home and have fond memories of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan. Their home was always welcoming and full of love.
