Gwenith K. Dalgarn

Gwenith Kaye Robinson Dalgarn (1935-2021) of Rock River Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, April 17th, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born at the Robinson family homestead in Coalville, Utah on April 14th, 1935, as the eldest of four children. She attended North Summit schools in between chores at the homestead and making her brothers and sister try to keep up with her in the surrounding hills. She inherited her green thumb and love for the great outdoors from her parents; the whole family took every opportunity to escape from the farm to fish, camp, and explore the countryside. She loved music, had a beautiful voice, and enjoyed singing with the local choir. After she graduated high school she worked at the Echo Cafe where she met the love of her life, Paul Gerald Dalgarn. They were married on January 12, 1957, at the Robinson family homestead. Residing first in Rock River, WY then within a year moving to Granger, WY, in order to be closer to Gwenith’s family. Both Paul and Gwenith had enjoyed their time in Rock River so when Paul’s job as a signal maintainer for the Union Pacific Railroad gave them the opportunity to move back to Rock River, Wyoming in 1965 they took it. Together they continued to camp, hike, fish, hunting for arrowheads, and other interesting rocks, oftentimes carrying children along with all their gear. Like many mothers she was said to have eyes on the back of her head, or at the very least binoculars, which was the only way she could have managed to take care of the farm animals, garden, and raise five children who were so close together in age. Though if you were to ask any of the other families in Rock River they would say she raised all the kids in town, whether it was shuttling them to school events and extracurricular activities, that entailed driving a carload of loud giggling teenage girls across the state. She enjoyed participating in The Rock River Extension Club and was well known for her baking skills. She was required to provide Angel food Cake and her Apple Pies for any town bake sales. She was also well known for her green thumb, whether it was through rehabilitating dying plants or growing the best African Violets. She loved apples, made the best apple jelly, and also had a great throwing arm. There may or may not be a connection to those talents, you would need to ask her children or grandchildren.

As her children grew older she was able to spend more time doing the things she loved and enjoyed. She had a voracious appetite for books, enjoyed watching rodeo events, and participating in at least two award-winning bowling leagues, though she was not one to brag about such things. After her children grew up and moved away she had to fill her extra time somehow and started working, first at Ideal Foods in Laramie then later at Taco John’s in Cheyenne.

She has joined her husband of 28 years, Paul Dalgarn (1927-1985), her parents Milton Carl Robinson and Cora Helen Saxton Robinson, and her grandson Danny Max Boschee in heaven. She will be missed by her children: Paul “Gerald” Dalgarn of Rock River, WY; David Dalgarn of Sedalia, MO; James (Nyla) Dalgarn of Laramie WY, their son Justin (Becky) Boschee (Colette, Drake, Sterling, and Arlie), Danny’s wife Terri (Hunter, Skye, Brylee); Gwenith “Theresa” (Marc) Bachmeier of Eckert, CO, their children Lacey Davenport (Gracie, Ellee, Lyndee), Amber (Nathan) Beasley, Joshua (Briana) Bachmeier (Landon); and Edward Dalgarn of Douglas, WY and his children Caleb (Alissa) Thompson (Em’Mariah), and Cassidy Thompson.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
