She was born a traveler. After visiting Italy and Greece in early adulthood, she discovered the need to see more of her own country. So, in 1973, at the age of 23, she embarked on a six-month journey in her VW camper and set off to discover new places with her two dogs as companions.
She visited two provinces of Canada in addition to forty-three states, logging some 23,000 miles on her vehicle. The place which made the biggest impression was Colorado Springs which she eventually called home for some 20 years. Pikes peak was a magnet. Ellie also lived at lake Tahoe, Flagstaff in Arizona, before she finally settled in Laramie.
Ellie’s professional career included the life and health insurance industries, building permitting processing in Tahoe. She was also a support person in the surveying and engineering world. Ellie was also a realtor, a prolific poetry writer, and amateur photographer. Driving was passion and exploring dirt roads was the most relaxing past time she found.
Ellie is survived by her beloved dog Beasly, a niece, a cousin, a brother, and friends scattered across the country.
