Edith J. “Edie” Brewer

For one beloved soul, the wait is over. The struggles and difficulties of this life were left behind for a heavenly reward on July 8, 2024, when Edith “Edie” J. Brewer was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. Edie was born 11/15/1935 to Paul and Irene Bailey in Newport, Washington, the fourth of five children.

On the family farm, Edie learned early the blessings of a strong work ethic and a closeknit family and brought these values into her marriage to Charles Clifford “Cliff” Brewer. Married on August 2, 1957, they shared 57 years together until Cliff’s passing in June 2014. They raised their children, Rocky, Melody and Paul, and Cliff’s children from his first marriage, Lon and Kathy, to also value hard work and a love of family. While Edie called eight different locations home, her heart remained in two: Newport, Washington, on the family farm of her childhood and Pinedale, Wyoming, where she spent many years raising her family and cultivating friendships. Both Cliff and Edie believed in working hard, no matter what the job was, and the eclectic list of Edie’s professional endeavors reflects this value. Whether a telephone operator, farm and ranch hand, cook, restaurant owner, or liquor store attendant, Edie would not only get the job done and do it well, but also offer a smile and friendship to all she encountered. Edie’s love of Jesus and family was absolute, and her greatest interests always included those she loved. She enjoyed antiquing, reading, gardening, music, and travel, especially when she could share them with family. She also liked to attend family reunions, go camping with the kids and grandkids, take the grandkids to Granite Hot Springs, or simply take an afternoon drive. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary #4801 in Pinedale and a member of various Baptist churches in the communities she called home. A legacy is not simply the people a person leaves behind but the impact they have had on the everyday lives of those around them. Edie’s smile and warm heart welcomed and blessed so many and is indeed the legacy of a loving woman who will be greatly missed. Edie is preceded in death by her husband Cliff; children Lon and Kathy; son-in-law Dennis; grandson Dailan; sisters Lyla and Millie; and brother Gene. She is survived by her children Rocky (Diane “Dee”), Melody and Paul; brother Wes; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Edie will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the First Christian Church, 2130 E Garfield, Laramie, WY.

While Edie loved flowers, she loved people more. In lieu of flowers, donations to either of these charities would be a blessing. Foundation Builders 808 Dally Ridge Rd #3 Laramie, WY 82070 Kicking Cancer PO Box 687 Pinedale, WY 82941

We enjoyed Eddie in her later years at both Spring Wind and at Cottonwood. Not to be forgotten was her greeting with her smile. What comfort to know is is with her Savior, joy for her, her absence a sorrow for those not yet There! Lovingly, Pete & Cindy Vasek

Cliff and Edie were our neighbors in Pinedale. They helped us out tremendously as new homeowners and we miss both of them dearly. I’m so blessed to have known them and while I am sad about Edie’s passing, I’m rejoicing knowing that she is reunited with Cliff in heaven. Our condolences to the family. Doug and Lisa Mason

Mel and family, Very sorry to learn of your loss. Both of your parents were the salt of the earth. I remember meeting them both during your time of The Rancher. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
