Dustin Ray Murdock, 27, passed away May 19, 2021 in Laramie. He was born April 12, 1994 in St. Louis, Missouri to Shannon Murdock-McCreery.
As a young boy, he loved technology and animation. He also loved to read. He had an impressive mind, able to easily remember things, and was very strategic. Dustin also had a sense of humor and loved practical jokes.
As a family, they had family game night. He learned how to play games by playing by the rules. Then he learned his own strategies and started winning. His grandmother still has the recorded message of the first time he beat his mother at cribbage. In high school he found a passion for pole vaulting and helped his team to state. After a major injury, those dreams had to evolve differently.
As a grown man, he found a love for the mountains and the world he could explore. He also loved rock climbing. His life journey has taken him to 22 states, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, and camping under the stars at over 11,000 feet.
Dustin is survived by his mother, Shannon McCreery of Laramie; sister Stephany of Laramie; grandfather Ray Murdock of Laramie; grandmother Donna Murdock of St. Charles, Missouri; Aunt Casy, cousins Kai Murdock, Jah Mari and Keoni Malone of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and his Qdoba family of Laramie.
Dustin was preceded in death by his great grandmother, great grandfather, and Grandma Connie.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 107 S 7th St, Laramie, Wyoming.
Memorials in Dustin’s name may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Youth Group.
I will always remember the first sentence Dustin said to me when I bought him toy soldiers as a little boy. “Need glue.” When he was a teenager I took him to the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. We shared a love of books. Great Uncle Carl Ramsey, Saint Louis, Missouri
Shannon, I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers sweety. Jess
