Donald R. Porter Sr. passed away on May 12, 2016 in Laramie, Wyoming. He was born December 12, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Carlton and Elsie (Cline) Porter.
Don joined the United States Air Force when he was 18 and went through Basic Training at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Don was then stationed in Alaska until 1956. He then went to work for Forest Products (Tie Plant) in 1956 until 1988 in Laramie, while also working at Happy Jack Ski Area in Laramie from 1962 to 1968. Upon the Tie Plant closing he worked with Watson Well, Wyoming Construction and at Mountain Cement for several years then retired. He had too much time on his hands so he went back to work at Mountain Cement finally retiring completely in 1999. Don loved hunting, fishing and puttering around in the garage.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, ZoAda, a half-brother and a half-sister, a granddaughter, a grandson, and one daughter-in-law, Deanna.
Don is survived by four children, daughters, Cheryl McKinney and Melinda (Danny) Van Kirk both of Laramie and sons, Donald Porter Jr. of Laramie and William (Maryann) Porter of Chicopee, Massachusetts. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Don is survived by six sisters and one brother, all on the West Coast.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church (1270 North 9th Street) with Pastor David Grace, officiating.

Don was a kind man. He shared a room with my dad when he went to Laramie Care Center. Very caring and respectful towards my dad and all of our family. RIP Mr. Porter.
