Donald J Brosz, 87 returned to his heavenly home on August 5, 2020. His devotion to his wife Pearl and family, and his firm belief in God supported him and gave him peace.
Don was born in Tripp SD to Jonathan and Pauline Brosz on January 12, 1933.
Don received a BS degree in Agriculture Engineering in 1955 and a Masters Degree in 1960 from South Dakota State University. He served as Extension Irrigation Engineer at SD State University, Kansas State and the University of Wyoming from 1960 thru 1993. He could often be seen cheering on his WYO Pokes.
Don served the Lutheran church in many roles locally, nationally and internationally, including President of Lutheran Layman’s League and Board of Governors. He was active in Zion Lutheran Church, having served as President and Vice President of the Congregation.
Don also served his community, working with the IMH Fund, United Way, Cowboy Joe Club and Rotary Club among others.
Don married his high school sweetheart Pearl on August 16, 1953 in Tripp SD, and had 3 daughters. As a family they enjoyed traveling, camping and golfing.
Don is survived by his wife Pearl, his daughters Jackie (Marc), Pam (Mike) and Nancy (Rich), his grandchildren Steve (Ashley) and Kate (Jon) and great grandchildren Ben, Paul, Joshua and Andrew and sister Sally Miller. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Delvin (Kathleen).
The family will have a private burial at Green Hill Cemetery, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Even though we live in Western Kansas I got acquainted with Don about 20 years ago when we visited our daughter's family. I always made it a point to exchange greetings with Don on our semi-annual visits to Laramie and Zion on Sunday when we were there. I appreciated his friendship.
Just now learned about Don's passing. I last saw Don at the "old guys" breakfast in Laramie in 2014. I worked with Don on Wyoming water issues in the early 1970s. In fact my first airplane ride was with Don when we flew to LA to tour the then Raincat Center pivot facilities. Don, of course, arranged that meeting. He was an ardent advocate for Wyoming irrigators. Condolences to Pearl and his family. Dick & Joyce Clark
Since I was unable to visit Springwind because of the lockdown, I was unaware of Don's passing. My prayers and sympathy go out to the entire family but especially to Pearl who I know from working at Ivinson Hospital where Pearl was a volunteer. Pearl would talk about Don often and my heart hurts for her. May the many memories of you Don give you all some peace and healing.
I was very sorry to hear of Don's passing. My condolences to Pearl and her family. I will pass this on to my brother who has very fond memories of Don our childhood and college years.
Dear Pearl and family—So sorry to hear of Don’s passing. The Pokes as well as Wyoming Water lost a champion and cheerleader. Don did so much for Wyoming and his service (as well as yours, Pearl) to the Wyoming Water Association is appreciated and remembered fondly. Don’s mentoring meant a lot to me as there weren’t many women entering water resources work back in the 1980’s. His support meant a great deal to me. Pearl, Jackie, Pam, and Nancy, it pains me to see that Don has passed. I am assured though by the fact that he is home with his heavenly father and has found a new form of peace. I know he was well loved and cared for and it was a great privilege to know him and work with him for years. My love and prayers for your family during this time.
Very sad to hear of Don’s passing. He was a good man very devoted to his work with the Cancer Support group at IMH. I felt honored to work with him and The American Cancer Society on the Relay for Life for Survivors! I will miss him! Take care Pearl and know he is safe and at peace now. He was a wonderful guy .
