Deena Wynell Packer

Deena Wynell (Stevens) Packer was born on December 7, 1939, in Wheatland, Wyoming to John and Ariel (Clark) Stevens. She attended Wheatland Elementary and Junior High Schools. The family moved to Laramie, where she graduated from Laramie Senior High School in 1958. She attended the University of Wyoming in hopes of becoming an author.

Deena held a number of jobs including bank teller and veterinarian assistant before returning to Laramie. In 1980, she returned to Laramie to help her mother. In that same year, she began to work for the University of Wyoming in the College of Agriculture. In 1991, she began working in the Math Department where she stayed until she retired.

Deena began praying for revival in Laramie when she returned in 1980 and spent the rest of her life serving God. In 2015 she became the leader for Moriah Ministries – The Meeting Place working to unite the body of Christ in Laramie and promote revival. She managed two Convocations, from which emerged the Community Night of Worship. Her last few years were spent writing what she termed “a blog”, dedicated to delivering a religious message. She wrote songs and maintained her beautiful voice until she had a stroke near the end of her life. Deena will be missed by many.

In addition to her love of God, Deena was known for her crochet skills, her love of dogs, and her passion for reading.

Deena was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Don C. Judge and John N. Stevens. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Nelda Hernandez, SDS, a nephew, Anthony J. Hernandez and two nieces, Renee (Stevens) Deboodt and Susan (Stevens) Fafnis.
