Cristina Lee Chesnut

Cristina Lee Chesnut, 68, of Laramie, passed away on April 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 18, 1952 in Topeka, KS to Robert J. and Gloria J. Byrne.

She was an Airforce brat.  The family settled in Cheyenne, WY in 1964. She had three siblings, Jeffery Byrne (deceased), Timothy Byrne, and Kate Bailey.

Cristina had a wide variety of work experience, mostly in the medical field. She was a home health aide and scheduler early in her career before moving on to becoming a certified medical coder, which she worked very hard at for many years.  After moving back to Laramie in 2007 she went back to her love of caring for the elderly which she dearly loved.

She retired in 2018, to work with one of her greatest passions, gardening and caring for her two dogs, Murphy and Obee.

She was an exceptionally loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was the very definition of altruism and compassion.

Cristina is survived by her husband of 30 years, Mike; her daughter, Vanessa Atkinson of Loveland, CO; her grandson, Dustin Atkinson of Loveland; as well as her siblings, Timothy Byrne of Maricopa, AZ and Kate Bailey of Voorheesville, NY.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. Paul’s Newman Center.

I will dearly miss Cristina and our garden chats; where there was always no rain, too much rain, too much wind, or too cold. But then magically it would be summer and we both had flowers and maybe tomatoes. Such a kind, caring woman who I and her family will truly miss.
