
Carol Kluz was born in Durand, Michigan on October 5, 1939, to Ruth and Jesse Bayliss. She was the sixth of seven children. After her mother’s death, she was adopted at age 6 by Robert and Beatrice Gonzalez of Laramie, Wyoming. She attended Lincoln School and St. Laurence O’Toole School in Laramie, Wyoming. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy in Sydney, Nebraska. She joined the Navy where she met her husband, George Kluz. After his retirement from the Navy, they settled in Laramie where they raised their five children. Carol worked as a housekeeper and cook for both Catholic parishes for twenty-two years.
She enjoyed music, sports, reading and writing. In her later years, she edited books and co-authored a suspense series with Randy Morris under pseudonym, Carol Randy. Carol authored a fantasy series under the pseudonym D. J. Rand. She co-authored a book to aid writers and authors with Gary Kessler titled Finding Go. She managed an award-winning website geared to assist writers and authors. It was listed in Writer’s Digest as one of the 101 best websites for authors. In July 2017, due to health, Carol closed her website.
Carol was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, two children (Robin and Mark), and her siblings.
She is survived by sons Kevin and Robert, her daughter Marcie, four grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church.
Oh, I have so many great memories of Carol at St Laurence O’Toole. I could always have a shoulder to lean on and a friend to talk to. It was always a joy when Robin would come to work with her mom. God has retrieved two of his very special souls.
