Allan James Montgomery

Allan James Montgomery went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2024. He was born to James and Martha Montgomery in International Falls, Minnesota on December 2, 1927.

He was schooled and graduated from public school at Crystal, North Dakota and moved with his family to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1945. He joined the Combat Engineer Unit of North Dakota National Guard which was activated in 1950. He was assigned to Ft. Lewis, Washington. He served in Korea in 1951 and 1952. He married Mary Ann Pallasch in Tacoma, Washington on October 14, 1950. Upon returning he was employed by the US Bureau of Mines in North Dakota in Grand Forks and then transferred to Laramie, Wyoming in 1969. He spent his retirement winters in Tucson, Arizona.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Ardele. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughter Nancy English and her husband Brad Waldbauer.

Allan was a jack of all trades and a master of many. He built most of their first house in Grand Forks and helped frame out the First Christian Church in Laramie. If he didn’t know how to do something he would get a book and figure it out. His many hobbies include bird hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, making stained glass, wood carving, and painting. He sang in a gospel quartet in his early married years, then barbershop and eventually the Gospel Choir and Country Gents in Tucson. Al and Mary Ann went on to airstream Caravans, cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska during their retirement. Allan was a man of God reading his Bible and devotionals every day and he always wore a tie to church!

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Wycliffe bible translators at www.wycliffe.org

Sincere condolences to Mary Ann and Nancy and family members. Al and Mary Ann were dear friends during our chapter of life in Laramie--especially choir at First Christian Church, church every Sunday morning. Mary Ann and I had many women's activities together. We all have many beautiful memories there. We will all meet again in the heavenlies! Until then, may our Lord's comfort be yours. Nadine Hurd
