Vincent Martinez

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Vincent Martinez passed away at the age of 94. Vincent was born January 15, 1930, in Truchas, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Martinez, parents Sedundino and Laura Martinez, and siblings Wilfred (Willi) Martinez and Ruth Gonzalez.

Vincent was a father of two daughters: Linda Martinez and Debra (Jose) Herrera. He also leaves behind five grandchildren Jose Herrera Jr., Manuel Herrera, Esperanza Herrera, Vincent Madden, Gypsie Madden. He also leaves behind seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Vincent served in the Army during the Korean War (1947-1953). A few months later he married Mary Martinez the month of May in 1953. He settled in Laramie, WY and raised Linda and Debra with his wife Mary. He loved going to dances and dancing to Mexican music. He also loved camping in the mountains. A few more of his favorite things to do were to go fishing and hunting. He also loved to travel. He was always surrounded by family and friends that visited him constantly. Anytime he had a visitor he would wake up early to make some coffee and tell his stories to his family. There wasn’t a day he didn’t call his children. He always was in touch to not only his daughters but to many other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, at Greenhill Cemetery with Military Honors. A celebration of life will follow at the Laramie VFW post 2221.
