Donna May Corkle

Donna May Corkle passed away peacefully from Alzheimer’s on February 19, 2022, with her daughter Linda at her bedside.

Donna was born to Chris Stone and Annie Stone in Langley, North Dakota on June 3, 1936. Donna had one sister Clara and three brothers, Chuck, Frank, and Kenneth. At a young age, the Stone family moved to Everett, Washington where Donna attended school and graduated.

After graduation, Donna went to join the Marines but instead married her Marine Recruiter, Robert (Bob) Corkle. Bob and Donna were married July 28, 1954. They moved to Walden, Colorado making it their forever home. Bob and Donna had three children, Beth, Linda and Robert Jr.

Bob and Donna owned and operated Corkle’s Little Market, Corkle’s Mini-Mart and the North Gate Convenience store near Three-Way, for many years. After retiring, they enjoyed spending time at their cabin and traveling in their motorhome. Donna decorated her motorhome and their mountain cabin just like their home which she loved. Donna’s love was the heart of her home. Anyone who entered through her doors felt it. Donna made being a homemaker look easy. She enjoyed the holidays, cooking, her doll collection, her yard, bowling, Woman’s Club, snowmobiling and four wheeling; although nothing compared to the love she had for her family. Donna’s heart will forever be carried with the ones who loved her.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; father-and-mother-in-law, Alice and George Corkle Sr.; her husband, Bob; daughter, Beth Bishop; son-in-law, Doug Bishop; son-in-law, Dale Howard; granddaughter, Angie Bourbeau; brothers, Chuck Stone; Frank Stone; brother-in-law Harvey Nurmi, brother-in-law, Hughie Corkle; brother-in-law, George Corkle Jr.; sister-in-law, Pat Corkle; sister-in-law, Elaine Corkle; and niece, Donna Gwen Stone Johnson (named after Donna).
Donna is survived by her daughter Linda Howard and grandson Eric Howard; son Robert Corkle and his wife Bobbie; grandchildren Cassie Corkle, Coby Corkle and his wife Alyssa, Amy Grannan and her husband John; great-grandchildren, Micah Grannan; Seth Eacret and his wife Harley; and their daughters, Morgan and Brayleigh. Donna is also survived by her sister Clara Nurmi; sister-in-law Carol Stone, and brother Kenneth Stone and his wife Marilyn; along with many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Rest easy in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Until we meet again.
