Michael Joseph “Mike” Gonzales, 69 passed away Saturday May 1, 2021 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper Wyoming. Mike was born April 28, 1952 in Greeley Colorado to Onesimo and Ernestine (Medina) Gonzales. He was the oldest of 7 seven children.
Mike graduated from Valley High School in Gilcrest Colorado in 1971. Home of the Vikings. He loved the Cowboy Way.
Mike was united in marriage to Deborah Ward on September 12, 1982 in Greeley Colorado.
In 2014, After 26 years Mike retired from Metal Container in Windsor Colorado where he was well respected and had many life-long friends. In 2020, Mike and his bride Debbie moved to Encampment Wyoming to be close to nature.
An Avid sportsman, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. His father taught him about the outdoors and survival. Mike was known to be a perfectionist and took pride in everything he did. He was an excellent artist and loved to draw wildlife and landscapes. Mike was currently teaching himself how to play guitar. Mike was a big fan of Carlos Santana’s music and the movie “Paint Your Wagon”, the only movie he could watch over and over again.
Mike was the son of a pastor and throughout his life spread the Gospel. He loved the lord deeply and instilled that in his children and grandchildren. He was a family man who loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mike especially loved his wife Debbie and spoiled her rotten. He wouldn’t have it any other way.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Onesimo Gonzales and mother Ernestine Medina Gonzales.
Mike is survived by his wife Debbie, Children Jessica (Chris) Faubion on McKinney TX, Chase (Christina) Gonzales of Encampment WY and Luke Castillo. Step-Mom Sue Gonzales.
Grandchildren Jacob, Gabriel and Cierra Faubion, Isabella, Shalyn and Isaiah Gonzales.
Siblings – Katherine Gonzales, Stan Gonzales, John(Christine) Gonzales, Pete (Linda) Gonzales, Tom (Nita) Gonzales and David (Deanna) Gonzales.
along with several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Platte Valley Christian Center in Saratoga, Wyoming. Interment will follow at the Encampment Cemetery.
