Christopher C. Kepler

Christopher C. “Chris” Kepler, 54, died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital from complications due to heart failure. Chris died peacefully in his sleep.

He leaves his parents, Forrest and Harriett Kepler, extended family: Bill, Laura, Mariah, and Jacob in Colorado, and Annie and Calum in Casper, as well as his long-time companion and close friend Erica Koger.

Chris was born, raised, and spent his adult life in Laramie. He graduated from Laramie Senior High in 1985, and was a member of the Laramie ARK, Wyoming Special Olympics, People First, and the Harvest Church. Chris had Down’s Syndrome and never knew a stranger. He had a smile and handshake for everyone he met and was a flirt from his first day to his last. Chris had many jobs in town, but his favorite was as a ticket taker at University of Wyoming athletic events. He was a very independent and stubborn soul. It was not unusual for him to “go out” without telling anyone. As a second grader, he slipped away from his parents’ home and walked two miles to the War Memorial Stadium to watch the Cowboy football game. They found him during the fourth quarter sitting on the Wyoming bench with all his new friends. He continued this later in life, even when he was confined to a wheelchair. This past winter he slipped away to the bowling alley to get a root beer during a blizzard. He got stuck in a snow drift and was rescued by some new friends who included gallant members of the Laramie Police Department.

A private memorial service was held at his parents’ home for family members.

A public celebration of life will take place on May 4th, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Harvest Church, 2535 Harvest Drive, Laramie, WY.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Ivinson Memorial Hospital and the Ark for the wonderful care they provided Chris.

Memorials in Chris’s name may be given to the Ark Regional Services, 1150 N 3rd St, Laramie, WY 82072
