Derek Dean Brinar, 50, of Colorado Springs and Saratoga died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

Derek was born September 15, 1967 to Charles and Lorraine Brinar in Denver, Colorado. The family moved to Saratoga in 1974 and he graduated Saratoga High School in 1986.

For a while, he was a contractor for Cheyenne Mountain, cooking for the military men and women. Afterwards, he moved around to refine his cooking abilities as a line cook and sous chef. He finally made his way to Colorado Springs where he worked as an executive chef, though when he went home to Saratoga he was always outside or working in his woodshop. He was also the co-owner of Need’em Car Wash in Saratoga with his brother, Ty.

Derek was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and spent as much time as he could outdoors, especially to go fishing. He also loved working on PCs and games and loved woodworking. He also loved going overseas to Europe, preferring to spend his time in France when he could and was always on the go.

Derek is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Brandon Lynn Brinar.

Derek is survived by his brother, Ty, of Laramie; nephew Patrick Allen Brinar of Laramie; aunt Marilyn and Richard Cox of Cheyenne; cousins Kevin Cox of Laramie, Kimberly Alexander of Cheyenne, Ruth Michelson of Powell, and Betty Dawson of Bridgeport, TX; and great aunt JuanaLea Eilbeck of Cheyenne.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie, WY, the Reverend Rhett Ivey, officiating.
