Mr. Larry Wester was called to be with the Lord unexpectedly on July 19th in Laramie, Wyoming at the age of 67.
He is preceded in death by his father Fredrick Wester. Larry is survived by his wife, Kathie (Watts) Wester; by his mother, Bertie Wester of Buffalo, Wyoming; his children, sons and daughter in-laws, Paul and Yekaterina Wester of League City, Texas and Brian and Latisha Wester of Laramie; his three grandchildren, Rileigh, Ingrid, and Brendan (MAIN MAN!!!) Wester; his brother and sister in-law, Daniel and Beth Wester of Casper; and brother in-law, Kenny Watts of Riverton.
Larry was born on January 7th, 1950 in Lander, Wyoming to Fred and Bertie Wester. In 1972, Larry and Kathie were married in Riverton, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1973 with a degree in Civil Engineering and became one of the first professionals to specialize in groundwater development for the State of Wyoming.
After graduation, Larry began his career working for Banner Associates, Inc. as a project engineer/manager and through the years became a professionally certified engineer in the State of Wyoming and several surrounding states. In 1992, Larry partnered with Mr. John Wetstein to form Wester-Wetstein Associates, Inc., were he served as President. Larry was also serving as the City Engineer for the town of Wheatland until the time of his passing.
Larry was accomplished woodworker and was fond of building his own furniture for family and friends. An avid amateur cook, he could be found barbequing and smoking meats in his backyard. He was a generous and carrying individual who loved spending time with his grandchildren. A passionate follower of University of Wyoming athletics, Larry could often be found in the stands supporting Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball teams, as well as the Cowboy football team. He was an active and dedicated member of the Hi-Wheelers Antique Automobile Car Club of America and traveled all over the region to share his passion for classic automobiles with others.
A visitation is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at First Baptist Church. A funeral service is scheduled at the First Baptist Church of Laramie on Tuesday, July 25th, at 10:00 a.m with Pastor Tom Schoeneck officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. A reception immediately following the interment will follow at the First Baptist Church.

Our deepest condolences for your loss. Larry, Kathie, Brian and Paul invited me in for dinner, to attend games, to catch up on life, to stay the night, to go on vacation and so much more. Larry was like a father to me, and was also a great friend. He provided excellent advice, helped me to stay motivated all while making me laugh. Kathie, Paul and Brian, It is impossible to express how sad I am with regards to Larry's sudden death. I cannot think about my childhood without memories of him - a happy man, husband and father who was funny, intelligent, talented and kind. Memories that include his goofy side - meeting my parents at sunset at the fence that divided their yards for a glass of wine to his to the endearing nickname he gave his son Psul as a child, "Worm". He was a good man and he lived a good life. I will greatly miss Larry. Praying fervently for all of you. Valerie.
I was saddened to read of Larry's passing. I will always remember Larry playing the 12-string guitar at parties and at St. Andrews in Laramie. His laugh, part giggle, and the mischievous twinkle in his eyes are etched into my memory. Kathie & family, my deepest sympathy. My condolences to Larry's family. We went to school together in Buffalo. He was a very fun person and always good for a snowball fight, I'm sure he will greatly missed.

Our deepest condolences in the passing of your husband and father. My father, George Harokopis extends his sympathies on your loss as well. Larry and George work together for years at Banner & Associates and when Larry first moved to Laramie, he and Kathie lived in the house next door to George & Flora Harokopis. I recall seeing his 'old' green VW sports car out in front of the house! We enjoyed visiting with Larry and Kathie when walking around the Alta Vista neighborhood and enjoyed hearing about the many four legged 'visitors' to the outdoor pond that he created in his backyard.
