I enjoyed the company of Micheal at work as well as outside of work on our motorcycles, snowshoeing or when he would show off parts of Wyoming that were special to him. He was a very special person to so many people and his presence on this earth will be missed by not only friends and family but those who he didn't really know but would help just as he would anyone in need. My condolences to his beautiful family, some of which I was able to meet and speak to briefly about how Michael touched so many people at his place of work. I learned a lot from this great man and will pass on not only knowledge that I learned from him but the professionalism, politeness and pride that he showed each day that he came to work. I have no doubt he is still making people laugh in that special place we will all eventually be, because laughing is the medicine that he always had plenty of to share....We all miss you my friend!!! Greg

I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was one of the original 'nice guys' - I knew him, because we rode the same bus, after his family moved to West Laramie.. He was quiet and kind, which made him a rarity at the time! I am so sorry for your loss, because I am certain it is deeply felt. Mike obviously had a passion for life, and led a life well-lived. Take comfort in the many memories you have of him, as a sibling, as a husband, a father, and a friend.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Michael during the past 6 months. I met him thru Cody Oreck and fell in love with his sparkling personality. He was such a gentleman and such a nice person. And of course, he was an awesome dancer. I asked him how he got started dancing and how he became so good at it. He said he had 3 sisters and they all had friends! So I guess he got to practice a lot with you all! I just wanted you know how much I enjoyed your brother. He always had a smile and enjoyed dancing so much. He was good at making his partner feel special and that she was the best dancer in the room no matter what level of experience she had. We all enjoyed making cider together this past fall at Cody's house. Great weather, great friends and great experiences. How fortunate you all are to have had Michael in your family. He was a man of character and charm. We will miss his style, his friendship and his love of dance at the Avalon. We had a moment of silence for him at the last Wednesday waltz night to remember him and then I sang Amazing Grace a Capella as my gift to him and our community of dancers. How wonderful it was to have people join in the song with me and feel his presence one last time. I wish you could have been there. It was a special moment. Friendship, community and love is what life is all about. Because I knew Michael, I know you are all special too. I want to send my condolences and love to your family and pray that God grant you peace during this difficult time as you say goodbye to your beloved Michael. My heart grieves as well for the passing of my dear friend. Take care of yourselves and know that God's presence is with you every step in this journey of life. Take refuge in His strength. Sending Love, Roberta

Michael was and still is an inspiration to me. I worked with him for fourteen years and just glimped a small portion of a great man. He reminds me to live every day to its fullest and not take the ones you love for granted. He will be missed.

My heart hurts...Michael was a dear friend. We went to school together from grade school on. He always kept in touch, greeted his friends with that big smile and was an inspiration with his love of life. I created quite a few masques for him when he needed one for a masquerade to dance the night away. He was going to help my husband and I plan a trip to Alaska. He was truly a genuinely good friend and I will miss him terribly. Dance with the angels my friend. Peace. -with love and respect, Linnaea and Jeff Kimble

Mike had such a presence in the Denver dance community. His appearance at a dance made that night better! He was a gentle and gracious leader and made each woman feel special. I thanked him more than once for his efforts in balancing dance with his work schedule and driving as far as he did so frequently. He shared with me how special dance was to him and the priority it was in his life. Thank you to his children for sharing your dad with us. We are all so lucky to have spent time with such a great and wonderful man ...<3

My heart was saddened when I learned of Mikes' passing. I may not have known Mike as long as some but what I did know of him I will remember fondly. I met Michael many, many years ago at the Grizzly Rose. Every time I had the opportunity to dance with him we turned the minutes into art. One year I accompanied him to his work's Christmas party and he told me that a few people thought we had been hired as the dance entertainment. That made us laugh. : ) The last time I ran into him he was seated next to my daughter at a theater event. Imagine my surprise to look over at my friend. My deepest condolences to his family. Goodbye Michael. I will miss you.

  • Jean Zartner

Since I am still in shock, I don't really know how to express my fondness for Michael adequately. He made me feel like a queen on the dance floor and with his words. He had a talent for making everyone just feel wonderful when he walked in the room with that great big smile and fabulous positive attitude. His creativity and skill in dance were unmatched.

  • North American Manx Association

The North American Manx Association is saddened to hear of the loss of one of our members and extends our condolences to Michael's family, especially Patrick and Nicholas who we also got to know when the Three Wiseman visited the Isle of Man in 2014. May Michael rest in peace and may you all find comfort from your memories of such a lovely man.

  • Holly Deuel Gilster

It was my delight to host Michael and his son Patrick at my home while they came down to fixed Cody Oreck's car. We had a good time and I thought to myself this is a man I want to get to know better. Alas, I was too far away and his time with us was too short. It's surprising how much his loss is a hole in my life when I knew him for such a short time. But that is a testament to the enormous strength of his spirit, his jeux de vie , and his generous attitude towards his friends. His model for life is one we should all aspire to.

  • Jim X. Borzym

I met Michael this past year through mutual friends in the Front Range Colorado social dance community. Michael was a frequent attendee at dances in the Denver area for some years. A skillful and popular dancer, he began to join our Avalon social dances in Boulder not long ago, and became very well liked among our group in recent months. He had a ready smile and good handshake, liked to chat, dressed well, and was always congenial. He became a friend to me, and many others. He was generous with his time and attention. He helped me specifically during my recent surgery by offering his assistance and visiting me during recovery. He was joining in with more and more of our community’s events and excursions. When his passing was announced, many, many people inquired about him and his demise. His death was a shock and deeply saddening to many people here. As I said at our waltz dance event last night, “Michael was a gentle man, and a gentleman.” He is sadly missed.
