I was very sad to hear of Paul's death. I knew Paul in the mid-1970s when he was a grad student at Western Washington University and I was the Geology departmental secretary. Our small department was a very tight knit community at the time with faculty, staff, and students interacting on a regular social basis. Paul had many a potluck dinner at my house, as well as a memorable Thanksgiving dinner I hosted for all the grad students who couldn't get home for the holiday. What I enjoyed most about Paul was his quirky and quick wit; he was never at a loss for words! My condolences to his family and friends.
